Jillian Michaels Attacks Keto – Exposing Her Bias and Harmful Impact
Jillian Michaels attacks keto without really giving any concrete examples to back up her arguments. This is very frustrating given that celebrities have a lot of influence.
I do believe that we should challenge the norm. That is how progress is made. However, when we challenge, it should be based on facts.
If Jillian Michaels believes that there are issues with the Ketogenic diet, it would be best to list the issues rather than rant about the diet without
giving evidence that it is bad.
Most of the statements that Jillian Michaels did make about Keto and health were actually incorrect or vague. She mentions telomers but does not explain their usefulness in health. Just uses the word to look intelligent without demonstrating that she understands the term.
When we use language in that way, often it is a method of confusing people so that you can push an agenda. If our ultimate goal is health and wellness, with all the research that has been showing that Keto is helping people to manage metabolic syndromes better, shouldn’t we be discussing the real advantages and disadvantages of the diet?
If there are issues with the Ketogenic diet, we do need to be aware and address them. But “I don’t like it” is not a strong enough of an argument when millions of people have had success on the diet.
Celebrities need to keep in mind that their message will affect millions of people. So arbitrarily dismissing a diet when you are a trainer could lead to millions of people not getting the help that they need.
I hope that those of you who were interested in the Ketogenic diet will do your own research. Find doctors who are in the field working with the diet and see what types of results they are reporting. Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Eric Berg, and Dr. Ken Berry have all been very open about the success they have seen using Keto with their clients. They are also very clear about the fact that not every person needs to do Keto. Do your research.
