How many times have I heard “keto doesn’t work for me no matter how much I try” when talking to people who have given up on the ketogenic lifestyle? What is happening in those situations? Did your body actually respond poorly to a healthy diet … or is it possible that there was something else happening?

The best way to solve a problem is to look at it objectively and then systematically control the variables. We are not willing to do that when it comes to our diet. We want a solution that will work within a few months and that will take little to no effort.

Hmm, considering that most of us gained weight over the course of 5 plus years, wanting a final solution in a few months is a bit ambitious. And this is part of the answer to why Keto does not work for everyone. If we do keto expecting results after a few months, we ignore the fact that our body, now that it has a reprieve from being poisoned, may focus on repair and healing the damage. Keeping in mind, our body wants to keep us alive above all else.

“Why isn’t keto working for me” assumes that what your body is doing to repair internally is not a goal of keto. But in fact, it is the ultimate goal. Keto is about building the healthiest body, not weight loss. When we understand this, we understand that even if I do not see the scale moving, as long as I have less inflammation, more energy, and can make it between meals without feeling hungry, keto is working.

Invest in your health by focusing on doing keto for the amazing health benefits rather than focusing on the short term goal of weight loss. That investment will result in a healthy body that will stabilize to the correct weight naturally. Health and happiness take work. Make working on it part of your daily routine.

What is metabolic syndrome and how does it affect our lives? Each day when you eat, your body needs to process the food. Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions that tend to occur together. If you have 3 out of 5 of the conditions, you are considered to have metabolic syndrome.

However, many keto doctors have stated that the conditions are all an indication that you actually have insulin resistance. Therefore, having any one of the indicators is a reason to modify your eating habits and eat a healthy ketogenic diet.

We need to keep in mind that if you have insulin resistance, you very likely have hyperinsulinemia since both conditions are relatd to how your cells are reacting to the insulin that is present in your body. Eating a ketogenic lifestyle can result in metabolic syndrome reversal.

My family isn’t keto and I’m worried that I will be tempted to eat high carb foods taht come into the house. Or, my family isn’t keto but they need to be keto to be healthy. If you were wondering how to do keto as a family or how to get your husband to do keto, you may be surprised to learn that getting them on board may be harder than explaining to them what you’ve learned about food.

We are addicted to carbs. Because of our sugar addiction, we overeat on a very regular basis to get that dopamine hit and endorphin rush. We are so used to getting it, that we defend our addiction instantaneously and vigorously. It is amazing how quickly people reply “I could never give up bread”. But if someone were to say “I could never give up alcohol” we look at them with judgment.

Getting your children or husband to commit to keto could be a very frustrating undertaking. But making subtle changes in the foods you buy and cook could result in better eating habits. It is unlikely that you will be able to force your family to try keto but you may be able to to show them, by example, the benefits of eating healthy.

Sugar’s affect on your body is specific to your eating and health history. This helps us to understand why some people gain weight, others have inflammation issues, still others have skin issues. There are several possible avenues that our body can take to eliminate the excess of sugar from our blood. And the results are always better than the death that will result if the sugar remains in our blood.

How often have I heard people say “you’re so lucky that you can eat like that and stay thin” not realizing that the person they are talking to has terrible joint pain that impedes daily activities.

It is so important for us to understand that survival is more important than anything else for our body. Despite our focus on being thin, smooth skin, althletic flexibility, or any other vanity metric we can make up, our boy puts keeping us here as the priority.

Paying attention to your body’s reaction to all foods you eat can improve your health. Each wellness warrior can notice what foods cause physical reactions when we are paying attention. Health and happiness take work. Make working on it part of your daily routine.

What is happening if my diet stopped working? Chances are, you stopped doing keto appropriately. Carb creep, extra protein, a cheat day, there are many things that we do that affect our body’s ability to maintain good health.

And ultimately, it is about health. If you are eating a healthy keto diet and you stop losing weight, what does that actually mean? Could it be that you’ve reached your ideal weight for your body? Could it be that your body is strong enough to focus on repair and has stopped prioritizing weight loss.

It is so important for us to focus on how we feel, more than what we weigh. Eating healthy will result in our body normalizing to the appropriate our weight.

When we drink to feel better we are engaging the coping by avoiding trap. It’s a trap because avoidance behavoirs do not solve your problems. In fact each time do self soothing behaviors, you risk addiction. Yes, most avoidance behaviors are actually addictive behaviors.

We all know that being addictive is a bad thing. So why are we allowing ourselves to engage addictive behaviors? Because since we’ve been young, we have been taought to avoid problems. And now coping by avoiding comes second nature to us.

There is a better solution, a real solution, that results in good mental health. When we actually solve the problems in our lives, the problems in our life get resolved and we an move on. Health and happiness take work. Make working on it part of your daily routine.
